The Last Frontier: A Disney Wonder Cruise Report - June 2025 (Day 06: Ketchikan)

Upon waking up and having breakfast, Brett and I watched as the Wonder made port in Ketchikan. Leading up to this trip, I thought Ketchikan would be the most picturesque of our ports. I’d seen so many photos of Creek Street and other quaint scenes. But for me, Ketchikan felt the most like a Caribbean port, from the ship, the things that stood out most were outlet souvenir shops, chain stores, and diamond retailers. It caught me by surprise.

We headed out to deck 4 for a bit and to my utmost surprise we looked left and found our daughter waiting off to the side with an ice cream cone while Lucas took a selfie with Mickey. I grabbed her ice cream cone, threw it in the nearby trash and shoved her into the frame, promising she could go right back up and get another. ;)

When booking our excursions, the options in Ketchikan were the least appealing, so we left this day open, figuring we’d need it after all the excitement of the activities leading up to it. The kids were much more interested in ship activities, so Brett and I left them on board to do their thing while we went off in search of lunch. We beelined straight for the Alaska Fish House, which was at the top of my list of restaurants I’d like to try in Alaska. And it definitely did not disappoint. By far our best meal of the week. And the views weren’t too bad either.

After lunch we went for a walk around town, heading first toward the Creek Street area, which was a little too quiet. Many of the storefronts weren’t open, and the ones that were, were practically empty. I’m not sure if there are usually more ships in port, but the entire port felt hollow and a little empty. We meandered around, bought some postcards for our travel wall and eventually made our way back to the ship to check on the kids.

The night before, we’d decided to book the afternoon lumberjack show (another super easy direct booking to save a little money - and they still allowed us to book the “Disney exclusive” showing). It was an absolutely full show, with great energy, and exactly what you would expect from a lumberjack show. Not gonna lie though, the best part of the show was Goofy warming up the crowd and putting the kids through a little calisthenics. We were cracking up because he was going hard with real sit ups, push ups, and such. Definitely getting his daily work out in.

After the show we returned to the ship, a little sad, as it was our last port of call, and the reality of the end of a vacation was starting to set in.

Up next: Our final sea day!
